Supporting Young People Through Creativity, Conversation and Connection
Teen Counselling in Matlock
Support for young people aged 12–18
Sometimes things can feel difficult to put into words. Anxiety, school pressure, changes in friendships or family life, bereavement, low confidence or overwhelming emotions can all affect how a young person feels about themselves and the world around them.
I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space in Matlock where teenagers and young people can talk about what is going on, make sense of their feelings and explore what might help.
My approach is relational and creative, and I tailor sessions to each young person. Alongside conversation, we may use creative activities, drawing, writing or other ways of expressing thoughts and feelings when talking doesn’t feel like enough
I support young people with:
Big Feelings & Emotional Regulation
Supporting young people who experience intense emotions, mood changes or outbursts that can sometimes feel difficult to control. Together, we can explore what may be behind these feelings, recognise triggers and develop strategies to help manage overwhelming moments and feel more in control.
Anxiety & School Stress
Supporting young people who are experiencing anxiety, exam pressure, friendship difficulties or worries about attending school. Together, we can explore anxious thoughts, identify what may be contributing to stress and develop practical coping strategies to help them feel calmer and more confident in everyday life.
Trauma & Loss
Providing a warm and supportive space for young people experiencing bereavement, family separation or other difficult and upsetting life experiences. Together, we can explore feelings and memories at a pace that feels manageable, using creative and conversational approaches to help make sense of what they have experienced
Confidence & Self-Esteem
Supporting young people who are struggling with self-doubt, low confidence or worries about making mistakes. Together, we can explore where these feelings come from, understand unhelpful self-beliefs and develop a more compassionate and positive view of themselves.
